LIONS CLAIM 6TH LEAGUE TITLE

Yagoona Lions made history as it shrugged off any pressure and defeated George's River Thistles 6-1 in a dominant performance and claim it's 6th Bankstown League title.

It was the Lions who were dictating play from the opening minutes and it didn't take long for J. Dalleh to open the proceeding with a great solo goal which was soon doubled when fan favourite Jamie Bazevski got his 35th goal of the season with a shot from 25m.

Yagoona came out in the second half more motivated than ever and their intent was clear as they soon added a third and fourth within minutes. They weren't stopping either and the bench soon showed why Yagoona have the best depth in the league with Cakovski grabbing Yagoona's next before Bazevski put the game to bed with Yagoona's 6th and his 36th of the year.

The win is a remarkable achievement as it demonstrated the clubs ability to return from the ruins after it was playing in Bankstown second division in 2000 to now being crowned the pinnacle of Men's Football in the Bankstown district and earn a spot in the prestigious Champions of Champions tournament.
